Types of Braces

Dr. Lili and our associates believe in providing the best, clinically proven treatments in order to help our patients achieve their beautiful smiles. Self-ligating braces, available in both metal and clear, as well as clear aligner treatment, have both proven to be exceptional methods to straighten teeth and improve bite function.

Regardless of the type of treatment you choose, we ask to see you back in our Los Aneles and Orange County orthodontic offices every eight to 12 weeks. Your satisfaction is our number-one goal, and each appointment allows us to follow your progression and make any necessary adjustments.

Metal Self-ligating Braces

Metal self-ligating braces are made with metal brackets and wires. It is the number-one choice for orthodontists like Dr. Lili to correct a variety of orthodontic conditions. They are the same size as metal braces, but use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place. The clip helps reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth, and requires fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.

Clear Self-Ligating Braces

Clear self-ligating braces have brackets that are made from tooth-colored material and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, clear self-ligating braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. Like their metal counterparts, clear self-ligating braces use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
