Meet Dr. Bahar Movahed

Bahar Movahed, DDS, MS

I was brought up in an art- and science-loving environment because my father was a surgeon and my mother was a respected artist. Therefore, I was fortunate to grow up to be both a dentist and an artist! I chose dentistry, which is a combination of art and science, and I fell in love with orthodontics, which is the science of facial harmony and aesthetics.  I went to dental school in my home country of Iran. In 2010, I immigrated to the United States to continue my education and pursue a new direction in my professional life.

I studied dentistry at my dream school, UCSF, followed by earning my certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science in kinesiology at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. I obtained six years of general dentistry experience, two of which were spent in public health care services. That experience taught me much about public health, managing and communicating with patients, and working under strict conditions.

The most precious and exciting aspect of orthodontics for me is bringing a smile to my patients’ faces, and knowing that my work had a meaningful impact on their lives. Orthodontics can be a fun and inspiring journey for our patients, and I love to be a part of such a life-changing experience on a daily basis.

Throughout my journey, I have continuously strived to learn and gain more experience. I have consistently hoped to reach a level of excellence in all my endeavors so that I could contribute to the community to the best of my abilities as an orthodontist, as an artist, and more importantly, as a human. I am thrilled to be a part of Dr. Lili’s amazing team and I am looking forward to providing excellent care for our patients in Southern California.

Alongside my education and work experience as a dentist and orthodontist, I have been following two different fields of art, music, and caricature, professionally. I have received international awards for my caricatures, and as a musician, I have held multiple performances of traditional Persian music across the US.
